I calculate cost now, every time my vehicle, a '00 Toyota Tacoma 4-cylinder 4WD, leaves the dooryard. I had to give up some groups I play in because the cost to travel to rehearsals and concerts is just too great. It is inconvenient, but when I drive to Cambridge, the trip has to double for getting chicken poo out to the farm in Shaftsbury that composts it to grow vegetables, and for buying chicken food at Whitman's in North Bennington, that would otherwise be a 15-mile round trip. As it is, it is 40 or 50 mile round trip, depending whether I am attending a CCS Reunion Committee meeting at CCS or going on up 313 to where my saxophone ensemble meets. There are far fewer trips to Williamstown, MA, where I sell quail and chicken eggs and use the library at Williams College. Now maybe once a month instead of several times a week.
What differences are gas prices causing in your lives?
