I hadn't seen that the Spitzer story was already posted here so I thought I would introduce it in a previous spot. Sorry for the confusion. My daughter's a perm. state worker who put a different light on this awful story tonight. She is in an office with a TV so when the news broke, about 25 people joined her for the afternoon. Many of them had been appointed by Spitzer 15 months ago and now they are all wondering if they will have a job for long as even though the possible next gov. is in the same party, he will eventually have his favorites posted in certain jobs. Now multiply that by all of the state deparments. Talk about an usettled state of affairs. We all had such high hopes for Spitzer. What a disappointment. And to think he believes this is a private matter. Not when it involves thousands of his employees.Actually I believe he is so arrogant, he will not resign atleast without a fight. |

He is so arrogant that I'm sure it will be a fight to get him to resign. And was that taxpayer money.......ahh those expense accounts, they're so, so useful........

Definitely a sign of the times. It is so sad to see anyone with such supposedly strong morals fall into such disgrace. It is bad to begin with but worse when he stood so strong against what he is now accused of. People in glass houses who throw stones should move.

This is really a hot story...they are linking Hillary with this also...no, she wasn't the "lady" with the 4 figure price tag. Is he going to resign or is he so arrogant that he thinks this will blow over?

Here's a little bit of irony - One of my son's buddies had lived with us for about a year when he first graduated from college (around 2000) - he worked as a Legislative Aide and is now working on the Gov's staff. Shortly after he took the job with the Gov, I rec'd a call from the State Police. They were doing a background check on this fellow to be "sure there was nothing in his background that could embarrass the Governor". This is really a shame - I had believed Spitzer to be above the "dirty politicians" that we're so tired of - really thought he had a lot to offer us as gov. |

Could Bill Clinton be Spitzer's mentor?? |

The word here in the city is that he hasn't resigned yet because he wants too broker a deal. Using the power of his office, he will resign if they don't charge him with any crimes. Sounds like Nixon and Watergate. He made his name while Attorney General by attacking the Wall Street firms. He would target a big firm (or individual), threaten them with prosecution, and allow them to pay a large fine without admitting guilt. The money would go somewhere(?) and would not go the the individual investors who were hurt by the companies in the first place. This is politics at it's finest. The Mrs. should take the kids and dump him. Hillary should have done so also. Cathy, that was a good story about you son's friend. Is he still on his staff and what does he think of him now? And was he with him on his trip to Washington? |

Ken, my son's buddy is probably too close to the bottom of the totem pole and wouldn't get to travel with the boss. At this point, the guys haven't heard anything from him - no inside scoops from this direction (yet).......... |

Probably if he did get to go he would be stuck with a fifteen dollar girl. ![]()

Gee if the ex-gov keeps playing his cards the way he has of late, $ 15.00 for personal entertainment will be steep. Wonder in the long run if his wife still stand-by-her man or bolt the door and vacuum his checking account as well. Not that I care but is there a pre-nup out there keeping him at her side? |
