HI FOLKS,
IS THE "PEACE BE STILL" MOTEL STILL OPEN ? ALSO ARE ANY OF YOU GOING TO THE "AMERICADE" IN LAKE GEORGE THIS WEEKEND? WE HAVE ENJOYED IT SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS GOTTEN NOISIER THRU THE YEARS. WE HEAR A LOT OF HARLEYS TEARING UP THE HILL DOWN BELOW US   . WE THINK THERE WILL BE MORE DUE TO THE FUEL COSTS.

Peace be Still is still open - it's on the lodging list in the alumni bruchure (I had to check).

Son Mike and wife are planning on riding Mike's Harley up the the Americade.  Yesterday there were quite a group of motocycle in our McDonalds parking lot.  Must have been close to 100 people just walking around, taking a break, whatever.  One of them was behind me in Kmart.

Our lovely state of NY has a new thing where they have a checkpoint at certain rest stops and all motorcycles are pulled in "to see if they're legal".  NY just never stops figuring out how to fill the state coffers.  They ought to make a bundle on the Americade.  I'm just soooo proud to be from NY.

Betty, I think New York and California are the two worst states for finding out new ways of making life tougher for people, in laws, rules of the road you name it ,,, I remember riding on the tail gate of Uncle Arne Saari's station Ford never needed a seat belt,,, I sometimes think we are getting to carried away, but I have to admit smoking cigs or pot with kids in the car not smart but then again our folks did it, not sure where to stop all these laws, July we can not smoke in car with kids, use cell phones while driving unless hands free, never ending just taking a little away inch by inch.  

And it doesn't hurt to remember that, once a right is taken away, it will never be given back.  If it keeps up, there will be no rights left and then listen to people scream.
