Hi every one,
We went to see Mary's nephews new house it is a large stone house on top  of a mountain in Latton, County Monaghan. Spectacular View.
Next to the house is a windmill farm owned by Airtricity. It consists of 5 GE turbines, each put out 1.5 Megawats each . A total output of 7.5 Megawatts. The rotors are  approximately 230 feet in diameter. It can power 4000 homes. A CO2 savings of approx 17,000 tons per year. The equivalent of taking 4000 cars per year off the road.
I sat in the car about 10 feet from one of the windmills and there was a steady hum. Some people think that it is good for relaxation just to watch the rotors spin. Other people think that it is not good to live that close to  them. i think it would be sort of eerie to see them at night.
It was really interesting to be that close to one.
 Have a good day

Tom, parts of those windmills are probably made about 20 minutes from my home in Schenectady. I wish the windmill business would take off in this country too. I guess it might be...slowly. A zoning problem in some areas. You certainly got to see them up close and personal. Probably a good education too. Keep enjoying yourself there.

Tom, when I was in Scotland, wind mill farms were becoming numerous.  They aren't the ones we are used to seeing in books about the Dutch.  These are really streamlined.
